Sterlite Grid 5 was formed as the resulting company from a demerger scheme approved by Sterlite Power Transmission Limited's board on 28 September 2023, separating out a slice of the group's power transmission business.

Revenue held roughly steady at around ₹1,161-1,246 crore across FY24 and FY25, though the company posted sizeable losses of around ₹410-427 crore in both years, reflecting the financing and depreciation load typical of transmission-asset entities in their early operating years.

Twin Star Overseas holds roughly 71% of the company and Vedanta Limited holds a further stake; the underlying transmission business won a ₹448 crore project in April 2025 to evacuate 4.5 GW of renewable energy from Ananthapur.
